After India’s independence, he stayed in Nellore as an advisor to the Government of India’s Mineral Research Department. He dedicated his time to studying geology and mining, particularly in Nellore’s mica-rich region and the gemstone-laden ridges of Hampi, earning him the nickname “Diamond Venkayya”.
