At a function held in the Constitution House, New Delhi on 20th April 2011, on the Role of Education in Modern India, H.E. Gen. J J Singh, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and H.E. Bhishma Narain Singh, Ex-Governor of Tamil Nadu bestowed this award upon Prof. Dr. G. Subba Rao, Principal of Geethanjali Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Gangavaram, Kovuru mandal, SPSR Nellore district.

About 20 Senior Professors from different Universities throughout the country who have contributed to the development of education were felicitated at this function. Few of the recipients of the award were from Banaras Hindu University, Gandhigram Rural University, Shivaji University, Jadhavpur University, Delhi University and Punjab University.
