Rs 100 Cr granted for development of Nellore Tourism

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, minister of state for Tourism & Culture visited the Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism, has announced a sum of Rs 100 Crore for the development of tourism in Nellore.

He told that a total of Rs720.29 lakhs of funds were sanctioned for Nellore district in 2014-15. He also mentioned that in the month of January Union government granted financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs for organizing Flamingo festival. He also said that the Government is dedicated towards developing tourism and culture.

GVK Group to invest Rs 500 cr for healthcare facility at Sri City SEZ

Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Mr.Chandrababu Naidu has announced that GVK group which is engaged in hospitality , emergency medical care, life sciences, power , transportation and airports in India and abroad is planning to set up a health care facility at Sri City SEZ.

GVK is planning to invest Rs 500 crores for setting up this facility. It includes a medical college, emergency medical care centre and a research and development facility. It would also mark the entry of the GVK group in to the medical education sector.  The agreement between Sri City and GVK is likely to be signed in a couple of weeks.

The chief minister has also inaugurated several facilities at Sri City including one of the largest global facilities of Pepsi and also laid foundation stones for other industrial units – Cipy Pagel, KGI Clothing, Rexam, Vermeiren, Ayurvet, Power Gas, Brindco, Knocept Poly Pro, Be’Rollex, Beva Sillicones, and Godawari Udyog.

Mountaineer Masthan Babu

Malli Masthan Babu, 32-year old mountaineer from Gandhi Girijana Sangam village of Sangam mandal in Nellore district who has been missing in the Andes mountain range since March 24 has been  found dead. The Chile Government has confirmed the news from his fellow mountaineers and informed the Indian Embassy.

Babu is a top Indian mountaineer, who had set Guinness World Record in mountaineering by climbing seven summits in seven continents within 172 days.  He is also the first Indian to climb Mt Vinson Massif, the tallest peak in Antarctica and first person from Andhra Pradesh to scale the Everest.

He is an alumnus of  NIT Jamshedpur, IIT-Kharagapur and IIM Kolkata.
