Mega Engineering Company won the bid to complete the works related to supplying drinking water to Nellore from Sangam Anicut. The Rs512 crore project was conceived to supply drinking water to Nelloreans through 70,000 water connections and 71 water tanks. 39 new tanks will be constructed and 34,000 new water connection will be given as part of the project. 15 villages that were recently merged into Nellore municipal corporation will also be covered under the scheme.

Here water is lifted to a height of 300 feet and then released to Nellore by gravity. Nellore is about 150 feet down from this point. The three 750 HP pumps at Sangam will get quality power supply from the nearby 132 KV substation from Adurupalli.
