Nellore to get drinking water from Sangam Anicut

Mega Engineering Company won the bid to complete the works related to supplying drinking water to Nellore from Sangam Anicut. The Rs512 crore project was conceived to supply drinking water to Nelloreans through 70,000 water connections and 71 water tanks. 39 new tanks will be constructed and 34,000 new water connection will be given as part of the project. 15 villages that were recently merged into Nellore municipal corporation will also be covered under the scheme. HUDCO loan to draw drinking water to Nellore from Sangam reservoir

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) sanctioned Rs. 475 crore loan to Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) to draw water from the nearby Sangam barrage. The project that involves development of a water channel from Sangam barrage that is 40 km away, transmitter mains, treatment plants, service reservoirs and overhead tanks to meet drinking water needs of Nellore city until 2047.
