Union Minister of Urban Development, Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation for Composite Regional Centre for Mental Health and Rehabilitation at Nellore. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot was also present.
The state of the art Composite Regional Centre (CRC) at Venkatachalam, Nellore will be under the administrative control of National Institute of the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad – under administrative control of National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD),Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India.
CRC-Nellore will take up training programmes which will have short term and long term programmes and also service activities which would include early intervention and detection, educational services, vocational training, employment and provision of mobility aids and appliances devices, and rehabilitation of senior citizens with disabilities.
Public meeting was held at VRC grounds Nellore were Chief Minister, Mr.N.Chandrababu Naidu has provided aids and appliances to 248 pre-identified beneficiaries with aids for the disabled persons provided by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). ALIMCO is the largest manufacturer of aids and appliances for disabled persons in entire South Asia.
