A spate of announcements by central and state governments have come as a boon to the real estate sector in Nellore. More positive news on Dugarajapatnam port and Dagadarthi airport apart from fertilizer plant, announcement of Krishnapatnam as smart city, two major Centrally-funded schemes for underground drainage and drinking water raised the hopes of those sitting on the fence.

Nellore city, with a population of 6 lakhs is witnessing a steady flow skilled and unskilled employees and workers coming and staying here over the years. Upcoming mega industrial projects apart from the thermal power stations under construction are expected to attract nearly 50,000 employees to this region. Currently, there are about 32,000 small scale industries in Nellore district employing nearly 1.36 lakh people. This number is also expected to increase as more and more ancillary industries would be setup to cater to the large industry needs.
