The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has decided to set up a larger campus in SPSR Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh. NIOT had been on the lookout for a large piece of land for expansion near Chennai, but the institute has now decided to setup its new campus in Nellore district.

The district administration has already identified about 200 acres of land in Vakadu and Kota mandals of Nellore district.  NIOT is trying to secure about 250 acres of land in Nellore. NIOT had deposited Rs 8.5 crore towards the cost of land.
