Medical Council of India (MCI) has permitted Nellore Medical College to start MBBS first year classes from this year. Disclosing this, Health minister, Kamineni Srinivas Rao said that admissions for Nellore Medical College will begin this year with 150 seats. This announcement will cherish the students who have taken EAMCET this year.

In 2012 the Government has sanctioned Rs. 362 crore for the Teaching Hospital and Medical College in the sprawling premises of DSR Government Hospital spreading over 79.35 acres. Admissions will begin this year with 150 seats but enough infrastructure is being created to increase the strength to 250 per year.
