Magsaysay award winner Prof Shantha Sinha was felicitated with Dr Bejawada Gopal Reddy Award 2013 in Nellore Town Hall yesterday. Former speaker of AP Assembly Agarala Eswar Reddy presented the award to her.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sinha said she is happy to receive this award given in honour of her favourite people’s leader from Nellore, Dr Bejawada Gopal Reddy. Reminiscing her childhood, she said she used to frequent Nellore during summer holidays to spend time with her grand mother (ammamma), who used to run a hostel for poor children. That experience led her to takeup anti-child labour issues in her later years.
