Recently, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that  the government has decided to set up 51 new low-cost airports with an aim to give boost to civil aviation sector and increase air connectivity to Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Nellore figures in the list apart from other cities like Vijayawada, Kurnool, Kadapa, Nizamabad, Tirupati, Anantapur and Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh.
