Under-16 national level tennis tournament came to an end in in Kavali, Nellore district. Patideep Singh of Punjab won the boy’s singles while Prajwal Dev and Sai Nikhil won the boy’s doubles title. Pranjala was the winner in girls singles category while Pragathi Nataraj and Thanusree were declared winners in girls doubles category. Tourist centre coming up on Thummalapenta sea coast

AP Tourism Dept is planning to develop, expand and sustain sea coast tourism infrastructure in Nellore district. As part of this, the Thummalapenta sea coast near Kavali is being developed as an attractive tourist centre. AP Tourism is seeking possession of 10 acre land earmarked for such purposes near the beach. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has sanctioned Rs. 3.77 crore for developing this tourist centre of which the first instalment of Rs. 3.02 crore has already been released. All India tennis championship at Kavali, Nellore

All-India Senior Tennis Ranking Championship will be held at Kavali in Nellore district from January 3 to 8, in memory of former national junior tennis champion K. Suresh. Suresh was national champion for five years. Over 120 players from eight States have already confirmed their participation. The president of the tournament committee is C. Lakshmi Narasa Reddy. The championship is open to all. Qualifying rounds will be decided by the best of 17 games and players will be allowed to play in one age group only. All India Veterans Open Tennis Championship

Official Club of Kavali town in Nellore district is playing host to the Suresh Memorial¬† ‘All India Veterans Open Tennis Championship’ between 25th and 27th March 2011. There will be singles and doubles matches in the 45+, 55+ and 65+ categories. The matches will be played in 6 courts in Official Club and Javahar Bharati College. Winners, runners and semi-finalists will receive cash awards at the end. About 120 teams are expected to participate from the four southern states.
