Center’s approval for Nellore Tourism Circuit

The ministry of tourism under Swadesh Darshan Scheme, has approved a Coastal Tourism Circuit for Nellore district to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 100 crore.

Mr.R.Amarendra Kumar, the Executive Director of Projects, AP Tourism Development Corporation told that the centre has approved the project in principle. The team is in Delhi to discuss about the mega project. According to him the idea is to develop the district as a leading coastal and eco-theme tourist circuit of India. The project will enrich tourist experience and enhance employment opportunities.

The proposed tourism circuit in this region envisages linking all the attractive features like the Pulicat Lake (B V Palem, Irakkum and Venadu Islands, Atakanitippa), the Nelapattu Birds sanctuary, the Kandaleru reservoir, Nellore tank bund, the Kothakoduru and Mypadu beaches, Ramatheertham temple and beach, Iskapalli beach, Udayagiri Fort and Krishnapatnam cruise terminal.

It is proposed to develop a floating jetty, tourist amenities and a handicrafts display centre at B.V.Palem in Tada. Strengthening of Nellore cheruvu, children’s parks and play areas, and water sports and also developing activity based infrastructure at tank bund. Upgrading of Tourism information centre and developing watch towers at flamingo resting places at Atakanitippa. There also proposal of developing floating jetty, boating, a tourist interpretation centre, water front promenade with lightning, landscape, a rock garden and water sports at Kandaleru reservoir.

Nellore is well connected to Chennai, Tirupathi and Bengaluru and it has Kottakoduru and Mypadu and tourists a lot. Iskapalli beaches which attract and it is destination of heritage and cultural importance. This region is home to ancient temples, historic dargahs, virgin beaches, enticing waterfalls, migratory birds’ sanctuaries, vast water bodies and lush green paddy fields.  The tourist spots in Nellore region are quite peaceful and pleasant extending an invitation to you to explore them further. Pulicat bird sanctuary is located in 500 sq kms of wetlands spanning Nellore (Andhra Pradesh) and Thiruvallur (Tamil Nadu) districts  in India. It is close to Sathish Dhavan Space Centre (SHAR) in Sriharikota. The sanctuary is famous for migratory birds like flamingo, pelican and others.

Rs 100 Cr granted for development of Nellore Tourism

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, minister of state for Tourism & Culture visited the Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism, has announced a sum of Rs 100 Crore for the development of tourism in Nellore.

He told that a total of Rs720.29 lakhs of funds were sanctioned for Nellore district in 2014-15. He also mentioned that in the month of January Union government granted financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs for organizing Flamingo festival. He also said that the Government is dedicated towards developing tourism and culture.

Trekking @ Venkatagiri Durgam

Adventure Club of Andhra Pradesh (ACAP) is organizing Trekking  program at Venkatagiri Durgam in Nellore Dist, Andhra Pradesh.

VENKATAGIRI DURGAM a rock Fort about 8 miles west of Venkatagiri Town. It was a defensive arrangement made by Rajah of Venkatagiri.  Vernkatagiri Durgam is a Peak 50 Kms. West of Tirupathi. The Trail is still untouched other than the locals and a few adventure groups. It is almost Virgin Trek Territory and difficult Trekking Route. The Trekking path is covered with small to medium sized pebbles and you pass through thorny bushes, steep Rocky Mountains and waterfalls. Venkatagiri Fort built in 1775 AD attracts visitors from all over the district. Front portion Fort namely Indra Mahal was built in 1883 AD. Venkatagiri is surrounded by a dense forest extending to the Tirupathi Hills. The Forest houses many sensual places of Natural Beauty like “KONA MALLESWAR KONA”. Here on can see waterfalls falling from 80 ft. height and also 300 years old SHIVA LINGAM.

Rottela Panduga – Economic impact

The just concluded Rottela Panduga has attracted over 5 lakh people. The rotte in highest demand was the job rotte. A lot of young boys and girls were seen looking for the  job rotte.

 

APSRTC Nellore Regional Manager Komariah, informed on friday that APSRTC earned 16 lakhs, operating special buses to cater to the pilgrims of the Rottela Panduga.

AP Tourism Boating has reported that it has earned 4 lakhs operating joy ride boating services for the pilgrims.

The hundi collections as counted by the Darga committee stand at Rs14,83,150. This is Rs3,73,150 more than last year’s collection.
