DKW College Nellore becomes autonomous

Dodla Kausalyamma Government Collge for Women, popularly known as DKW College in Nellore, was accorded autonomous status by the University Grants Commision (UGC) on 18th March 2016. The college will also receive UGC funds to improve its infrastructure.

The college was started on 27th Jan 1964 by Smt Dodla Kausalyamma and Dodla Subba Reddy. Cosnstruction of college building started in 1965 in an area of 25 acres. Dodla family spent about Rs3 lakh to source the building plan from America in those days. No wonder, the college takes pride in its spacious class rooms, a large library, laboratories and even a gym.

The college has about 800 students now supported by 40 teaching and 16 non-teaching staff. The college received A Grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
