Andhra Pradesh police department recently took the initiative to replicate the success story of Cyberabad Security Council of Hyderbad, which has rolled out a series of security measures, by starting Nellore Industrial Safety and Security Corporation (NISCO).

Over 700 companies including large, medium and small-scale are present in the Nellore industrial corridor between Krishnapatnam Port and Sri City, of which 120 are large industries, out of which 50 to 60 companies have a turnover of over Rs 100 crore. Most of them have evinced interested in taking part and contribute to its success.

Nellore District Collector, SP and IG (Guntur Range) conducted several workshops in the recent past as a result of which a core team has been formed with General Managers (Security) of Krishnapatnam Port and Sri City apart from Additional SP of Nellore. NISCO has drafted a Standard Operating Procedure according to which the council would take care of untoward incidents with the help of employees of the industries.

In the first phase, the first cluster of about 100 companies have started setting up their own security measures including CC cameras, security alarms and private security personnel. The security guards would patrol a stretch of 5 to 8 km on bicycles or motorcycles fitted with RFID chip and a wireless set up to communicate with Rakshak teams during emergency. A DSP rank officer has been assigned to monitor the security and law and order at each cluster.
