FDI ambassadors study investment potential in Nellore district

Narendra Modi led Government of Inndia has appointed senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officials attached to Indian embassies as commercial ambassadors of India. Select IFS officials from Indian embassies across the globe are pooled and were trained in different aspects of making India a global hub of investments. 

Three districts from AP i.e. Nellore, Chittoor and Visakhapatnam have been identified by the center to get foreign investments following the state government’s recommendation. The central team led by Mr N Ramakrishnan, first secretary in Indian embassy in Manila (Philippines), already made a visit to Nellore last week. Senior official in external affairs ministry in Delhi, Mr Anil K Sarma, is also part of the AP’s commercial team.

The officials met Nellore district collector M Janaki Devi and enquired about the strengths of the district. They will organise road shows and exhibitions in foreign countries by highlighting the advantages of investing money in the district. Joint collector Mr M Intiyaz took the team across to different locations including the Krishnapatnam port as part of the field inspection. Mr Anil K Sarma expressed his view that construction of more hotels in the district might improve Nellore’s tourism prospects.
