The first high school in Nellore, C.A.M. High School, established in 1837 by the American Baptist Mission (ABM) is all set for closure from this academic year.
The mammoth British time building with a large vacant place and a huge playground located in the heart of Nellore town wears a deserted look now as all students have taken their transfer certificates to join other schools because of lack of teaching staff here. The government aided high school has only five teachers now out of the required 20 and this is attributed to government’s failure to provide aid to pay salaries since 1996.
