SPSR Nellore district with about 30 lakh population stood first in telecom revenues in Andhra Pradesh with annual revenue to the tune of Rs350 crore from various telecom network operators.

Telephone service started in 1962 in the district. Landline phones were a luxury in 80’s and they spread to villages by the end of 90’s. Cell phone revolution started in the district in 2003. BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) stands number one with 4.5 lakh pre-paid and post-paid connections with an infrastructure consisting of 138 telephone exchanges, 238 cell towers, 18 WLL and 32 3G towers.
