Samala Venkata Ramesh – A Crusader for Telugu

Samala Venkata Ramesh is the author of the much famed book ‘Pralayakaveri Kathalu’ on Pulicat Lake using Nellore dialect. He received the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) Gidugu Ramamurthy Memorial Award in recognition for his contribution to the preserving, protecting, propagating and advancing the Telugu language. He has been very active in advancing the cause of Telugu outside the boundaries of Andhra Pradesh. He is committed to the cause of reviving Telugu language. He says ”Telugu is numerically the biggest linguistic unit in India. Telugu is found to be recorded in the 7th Century AD. However, it is only in the 11th Century that it broke out into a literary language, but historical and archeological findings show a different truth. The origin of which is traced back to literally 1500-1000 BC. The language that has spread the fragrance of culture.

 

Ramesh stays in Hosur (Tamilnadu). His grandfather’s village is in Pralayakaveri (now Pulikat Lake in Nellore) His other books are Porugu Telugu and Vemana Viswarupam.
