Chengalamma Parameswari Temple, Sulluru Peta

Goddess Chengalamma Parameswari temple is situated in the banks of Kalangi river in Sulluru Peta town. This town is on the Kolkata-Chennai national highway, NH-5. The annual Chengalamma Jathara (fair) is quite popular around here. The naturally-formed image of the goddess adorning the hanging roots of the banyan tree is awe-inspiring.

This village goddess (grama shakthi) who was called Tankali later came to be called Chengalamma Thalli and her idol in the temple faces the sea. Devotees from different parts of the State visit the place and fulfill their vows, referring to the goddess as the mother who grants boons liberally. The temple is also very famous among truck drivers and other travelers passing by the national highway.
