Mr Manohar Reddy started his career in 1977 as a clerk in a government high school and went on to become a teacher in 1982. In the next 18 years he imparted quality education to thousands of children at various schools in Nellore district.

In the year 2000, he was promoted as Mandal Education Officer for two mandals – Podalakur and Kovur. During this period he was successful in bringing numerous children back to schools by counseling parents and children through the “Badi Baata” program. He was also successful in transforming the lives of many child labourers through bridge schools and then making them a part of the main stream schools. Many of these children have achieved very good results in the recent past.

In the year 2006, Mr Reddy was appointed as the Academic Monitoring Office for Nellore district under Rajiv Vidya Mission (earlier known as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan). During this period, his team was responsible for conceptualizing, publishing and distributing a free children’s magazine ‘Chinnaari’, a monthly magazine in Telugu. His style of academic monitoring has set a benchmark in the entire state. His team has also conducted several educational fairs in Telugu, Science and Maths.

Through out his illustrious career, he tirelessly worked for providing better education for the children, and achieved numerous accolades and awards in recognition of his efforts.

His service to the society doesn’t stop at that. He is also an active member of Lions Club and served in the capacities of President, Zonal Chairman, Regional Chairman and Distrct Chairman. He was also the Nellore District Chairman of Lions Quest program for teenagers. During his tenure, 9 lakh people were offered free eye tests and 13000 people were operated freely.

Post retirement, he founded a charitable trust Akshada Foundation in January 2010 to further the cause of Indian government’s mission of Education for All. In addition, Akshada also involves school children in various social causes in the areas of environment, health, etc.,
